Excerpt from Chapter 9 - Memories
If we look back on our life, we have a trove of memories. Some of the memories are only in our mind and some of them we have physical reminders of them. We have post cards, ticket stubs and lots and lots of pictures. We may even have 35mm slides from "back in the day" and old photos in boxes in the attic. Of course, we do everything today digitally, storing hundreds (or maybe even thousands) on our phones and computers. Whether it's photos in a box in the attic or digitally stored photos, I would argue that you rarely go back and look at them.

For me, I don't find myself sitting at my computer and scrolling through all my photos. Many of us like the physical feel of a real book. What I suggest is to create digitally prepared photo books of specific events, whether it's a book of your daughter's younger years, your annual family vacations to Sea Island or a collage of Christmas's. Today's way to create these books is super easy. You select the online company/service you want to use (I use Shutterfly but there are many others), upload your photos, organize them in your desired sequence, and add any captions you desire. A week or so later, the finished book appears in your mailbox. It's that easy.

And as we age even older, we won't be glued to our computers as much as we are today. But you'll have physical memories books that you can look at, getting pleasure from recalling those events/times. And these memories books don't have to be all pictures. They can be a scrapbook of postcards of places you've been, ticket stubs from various events or even cocktail napkins from various hotels/resorts/restaurants you've been to. It doesn't matter what the physical reminder is - but it's important to put it in a book that allows you to enjoy that trip or phase of life over and over.
